| Since my Op-Ed is in the Detroit Free Press today, I thought I'd take a minute to reiterate something that keeps getting lost in all the "noise".
This incident is a perfect example of why Bishop is unfit to lead the Senate. Think about this:
He found a blog that hurt his feelings (or rather, "said mean things" about him)
The same blog was going to be used by the Senate Democrats to publish information about their legislative agenda
He targeted that blog only, and blocked access to it
He never communicated his concerns, nor did he communicate his actions, to anyone in the Senate
To explain his conduct, he accused us of accessing Senate servers, and pressured an anonymous blogger to reveal her identity
He revised his statements later, to make his decision a little more palatable to his conservative constituents
This is the kind of arrogance that he brings to the budget negotiations. Is it any wonder that we don't have a budget yet?
He decides a particular product or service is a waste of state money, he just shuts it off. Not even the Constitution of the United States of America can get in his way. (George W Bush, anyone?)
He won't communicate with you about it, unless you catch him, in which case he'll just insist he's right. (In fact he's so adverse to communicating with you, he'll hide in the bathroom to avoid it) His responses will defy logic, but he'll stick to whatever story he's telling at the time.
What else is Bishop not telling you? What else has he taken from you? What will he take next? |
