Republican power grab in Oakland county headed back to court
Democrats on the Oakland county commission file lawsuit, charging Republicans ignored the law with gerrymandered redistricting plan
LANSING, MI – A lawsuit has been filed today against the Oakland County Commission – acting as the Oakland County Apportionment Commission – for adopting a new redistricting plan that ignores state redistricting laws.
“Republicans on the Oakland County Commission should adopt the most legally sound plan,” said County Commissioner David Woodward (D-Royal Oak). “They clearly didn’t adopt a legal, fair plan so they could gerrymander a Republican majority, to maintain; as Brooks Patterson said, ‘Republican control for the foreseeable future.’”
