Mobile Technology to Help Raise Funds for Senator Pavlov Recall Effort

Recall efforts cost a lot of money. One way Michigan Rising, a group that is trying to recall Senator Phil Pavlov will be using to raise money at Saturday’s kickoff events is mobile fundraising. Those attending the events will be able to donate to the recall effort using their smart phones. “We are excited to have this new technology to help us raise the money we need to get the job done of recalling Senator Pavlov. When we learned that 97% of text messages were responded to within 15 minutes and that we people could donate to our cause using their smart phones while at our event, it was a no brainer to give this technology a try,” said Bruce Fealk, Communications Director for Michigan Rising.

On Saturday two events to kick off the recall of Michigan State Senator Phil Pavlov will take place, one in St. Clair County at 2441 West Water, Port Huron from noon to 5 p.m. and the other in Lapeer County at Gallery 194, 194 W. Nepessing from 1-4 p.m. Both meetings will offer training for recall petition circulators, a silent auction refreshments and live music. Members of the Tea Party have been trying to keep the group, Michigan Rising from being able to rent the city owned facility where the Lapeer event will be held. Tea Party members have told the Gallery 194 staff that they intend to be at the event on Saturday.

Michigan Rising also has plans to launch a second effort to recall Governor Rick Snyder in May and plans are now underway for an event in Lansing. A final date for the kickoff rally has not been determined yet, but Michigan Rising also plans to use mobile fund raising in its effort to recall Governor Snyder.
