Ben Glardon (85) – A complete waste of a legislator

I never thought I’d see a bigger do-nothing waste of a representative than Dick Ball, but his successor Ben Glardon already has him beat. Here’s what Ben has been doing in Lansing for us …

Sponsored:

a bill amending the criminal code regarding documents, records, drivers licenses, etc., for convicted persons (good bill to show you are tough on crime)
a bill outlawing the already illegal partial birth abortions (good bill for fundraising from the forced birth folks)
a bill that amends the insurance act, prohibiting you from holding an insurance company accountable for dropping you due to your credit rating (good for fundraising from insurance companies)
a bill regarding the registration of farm names (so you know that he cares about rural shiawassee)
a bill regarding farm markets and highways (rural shiawassee is close to I-69)
a bill restricting how medical marijuana is transported in a car (????)

co-sponsored:

a half-dozen or so resolutions to express concern regarding asian carp
a resolution regarding Wisconsin’s concealed carry law
resolutions declaring the dates of agriculture day, patriot flag day, train day, and dairy foods awareness day
a resolution to thank the first responders, memorialize those lost on sept 11, and honor our nation for its strength during wartime
a resolution asking Gov Snyder to expedite Michigan’s withdrawal from Midwestern Greenhouse Gas Reduction Accord
a resolution encouraging the President to import more oil from Canada
a bill defining a public employee
a bill eliminating benefits for legislators not vested before 2013
a bill creating “gold star family” registration plates
a bill repealing the pricing law
a bill regarding MEAP verification for farms
a bill to regulate amateur mixed martial arts
a bill allowing for civil and criminal procedures regarding illegal immigration, which they have called the “support our law enforcement and safe neighborhoods” act (seriously)
    a bill reducing unemployment benefits
a bill reducing welfare / food benefits
a bill increasing the documentation required for a marriage license
an administrative procedure regarding the federal swing-bed program

Lather, rinse, repeat for the additional readings & whatnot.

To be fair, Ben never says anything about jobs, poverty, education, or any other middle class concerns on his “issues” page. He’s pretty much sponsored or co-sponsored bills that are consistent with his fundraising goals.

How worthless is Ben Glardon on a scale of 1-10? In the words of Nigel Tufnel, this one goes to 11.

Christine, I see you have missed Ben’s latest effort. He has sponsored legislation to insure that private homeowners and businesses that put a windmill for generating electricity will not have to pay property taxes on it!
The energy crisis in Michigan is solved!
