Schauer’s Very Good Week continues

As I mentioned yesterday, Mark Schauer is having a very good week in his race against former Bible salesman Tim Walberg.

In addition to endorsements from the Toledo Blade and the Marshall Chamber of Commerce, he can now add the Veterans of Foreign Wars’ PAC to the list of endorsements. From their endorsement letter:

This letter is official notification that the Veterans of Foreign Wars Political Action Committee (VFW PAC) Board of Directors has endorsed you for re-election to the United States House of Representatives. This endorsement is based on your strong support for veterans, national security & defense, and military personnel issues.

Tim Walberg has been reduced to putting up an ad featuring his mom, denying that he wants to privatize social security despite his own claim that he supports it, and whining about a Schauer ad that didn’t include the words “because of quality issues.”

Seriously:

The Schauer TV ad fails to play the final four words of the sentence, hiding from viewers the reality that Tim Walberg was praising the quality of American manufacturers and American workers.Compare Tim Walberg’s actual statement vs. the clip in Schauer’s ad:
Tim Walberg’s actual statement:
“It’s not China and Mexico that we should really be worrying that much about.  We’re getting jobs back from China because of quality issues.”

The clip of Tim Walberg in the Schauer TV ad: “It’s not China and Mexico that we should really be worrying that much about.  We’re getting jobs back from China.”

“Mark Schauer has sunk to a new low by attacking me for praising American manufacturers and American workers.  He should fix his deceptive TV ad immediately, along with apologizing to Michigan workers for his votes if favor of the failed Pelosi stimulus, tax hikes and Obamacare,” said Tim Walberg.

Oh. Well. THAT changes everything doesn’t it? Weak tea, Tim, very weak tea. By the way, you might want to check in with some of the Michigan workers whose jobs are still being done in China today. I don’t think they’d agree that jobs are coming back to Michigan in any significant way — “because of quality issues” or otherwise. I think they are worried plenty about China and Mexico. As well they should be.
